MCM Expo Birmingham

Last month we took a trip up north (well, north-ish) for our first visit to the MCM Expo at the NEC Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. After a great time at London Anime & Gaming Con, we were excited to get our second convention of the year off and running.

We set up in the Comic Village and manage to cover our table with regular and limited edition of the Samurai Chef manga as well as our new Samurai Chef chocolate bars.

It’s been a while since we’ve been to an MCM event, but we were quickly up to speed once we got our bearings.

There is so much to see at MCM. We only got to see a fraction of it from our stall, but we were treated to Robot Wars matches going on just behind the Comic Village – we loved watching that show!

We also got to meet up with some great exhibitors including Canime, Helenasia and Choizilla, who had one of the best presented tables in the Comic Village and a cool outfit too.

As always it’s about the cosplay and we saw a tons of great outfits over the two days of MCM Expo.

Even the security guards were getting into it…

So that’s two events down and many more to go in 2015. Not only conventions like Hyper Japan and London Comic Con, but we’ll also have our very own mayamada events starting with GamePad! in April.

Stay tuned to find out where to catch us after that one…

Photoshoot Behind The Scenes

mayamada September 29, 2013 No Comments

Whenever we put together a photoshoot we always hope to work with a great team.  Somehow we keep getting lucky because once again we found ourselves working with an amazing group of photographers, make up artists and models.

We set up shop at Workrate Studios in East London to go through the new collection.  Take a look at what we got up to and stay tuned for online preorders next month!

We had fantastic make up people throughout, keeping the models look their best.

We’re Experiencing Technical Difficulties

If you’ve been on our fan page for any length of time, you’ll know we’ve been working on a new hoodie for the past few months.

They were delivered last week but unfortunately, weren’t up to the standard we except for any item we put our name too.

We’re working on having them re-done as soon as we can, but because of that they’ll be a delay in getting them to you.

In the meantime, we’re offering FREE DELIVERY on every item in the gift shop on the website for the rest of the month.

We’ll have more sneak peek photos of the new hoodie like the one below soon.

A Little Known Gem in Camden Town

At least I didn’t know it was there until last week…

Last weekend, I took a trip to Camden market to visit a shop run by the ifreecans Collective.  I first meet these guys at StreetFest and thought I would look them up after hearing they had a shop in Camden.  It’s a celebration of arts in various forms: music, painting and tees all in one space.

You might miss the shop walking around the maze of clothing food a tattoo spots in the market area, but the standout feature of this I hung out for a while chatting to the owner Kiboko, who seems to be working on a mural every time I see him!  Check this one out:

We chatted for a while about all things t-shirts and I got the chance to look at other bits of art that will soon go up in an exhibition in London (check our Facebook page for more details when we get them).  I got these pic from there website, but there was a lot of other nice pieces and I should have taken some pictures of my own.  Oh well, I’ll be back there soon so keep an eye out for more.
