As the co-founders of mayamada, a Japanese inspired character brand, we’ve naturally got big ideas on creativity. We believe everyone is creative but not everyone realises it. We want that to change!
That’s why we started the #BeCreative Academy workshops, to make sure creativity isn’t left underdeveloped.
We use storytelling to encourage and develop creative thinking. As comic creators, we get to work with young people at an age where the right support will help them unleash their creative potential!
The 2016 #BeCreative campaign is underway and we’re excited to tell you how we’re bringing together a diverse a cast of real-life characters to express what creativity means to them.
So what does creativity mean to you? That’s the question we’re asking everyone as we look to show that creativity spans a diverse range of people, talents, and views. So let us know what you think.
This is a fun challenge to get you thinking and flex your creative muscles. Here’s how you can get involved…`
Take a blank piece of card, some colouring pens, and take a quiet moment (or two) and think about what creativity means to you. Now let your imagination go and write or draw your answer on the card.
Be part of the online discussion. Take a photo of you holding your message and share it with us on Twitter or Instagram. Use the hashtag #BeCreative too, your contribution will help encourage others to value their opinions too.
We’re grateful to have a great group of organisations and individuals support the #BeCreative campaign. Including Urban MBA, 64 Million Artists, InnerI, Social Ark CIC, Industry In The Streets, plus US hip hop artists Mega Ran and SkyBlew.
This this is just the start of a nationwide and international conversation happening with YOUR help! Everyone who sends us their message will also get £5 off our new “Creative Character” t-shirt, available in white and navy.
We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
