It’s that time of the year when we look back at the highlights of the past 12 months. For us at mayamada, the GamePad Christmas event was the top of that list. A big thanks goes to the team who supported us and everyone came down to made it an amazing day! Don’t worry if you missed out, check out our recap and join us again in spring 2017.
We started GamePad to bring people together using video games. To create a community that was inclusive for all types of people. We kept that goal in mind when moving from west London to the Maker Wharf in east London.
A bigger venue plus a new support team brought a different scale to what we had done before. Thankfully it came together for the biggest and best GamePad event so far!
This time around we were was supported by both Ubisoft and Nintendo! It was a great feeling to get the backing of two gaming giants and a big step forward for the event.
After an intro from host Aisha Anime, we got into the games with and an expanded line-up that included Mario Kart, the new Steep, Pokken Tournament, Street Fighter V, BlazBlue Central Fiction and a host of card and board games too.
The GamePad Christmas event was also the first with special guests. We go to meet the London Lions cheerleading team, Ash Cosplay and the winner of Channel 4 show SAS: Who Dares Wins, Moses Adeyemi. It was great to see them all get involved in social gaming, such good sports!
A special shout out to Cally Munchy and Bringing Eden for providing food and drink on the day. And to canvas specialists Canime for providing us with a cool prize for the Super Smash Bros competition winner Josh.
While it was a success on the day, there’s still room to improve and grow. We’re looking forward to making the next GamePad event on Saturday April 8th even better!
Stay tuned over the next few month as we announce details for the spring 2017 event. We can’t wait to tell you what we’ve got planned ^_^
