Top 5 Cosplay From London Super Comic Con

mayamada March 10, 2016 No Comments

After a break from comic conventions over December and January, we had two in February. Just like buses, wait for ages and two come along almost at once!

It’s great for us though. We got to showcase our latest manga Hot Lunch at the London Anime & Gaming Con as well as hold two talks on stage on each day of the event. Public speaking can be nerve-wracking, but when we get to talk about the mayamada universe, creating stories and comics we jump at the chance.

After LAGC, we exhibited at the London Super Comic Con for the first time and meet a whole host of great artists, old friends, and fantastic cosplayers…

London Anime & Gaming Con

mayamada February 12, 2014 No Comments

We spent this past weekend at the London Anime & Gaming Con.  As usual it was  a good mix of the wacky and wonderful in a relaxed community environment.

The event also saw us give our first Q&A panel at any convention. We were given the opportunity to talk on stage about the brand and characters, Samurai Chef included, as well as the manga we create.

It was a great two days seeing some cool cosplayers, meeting new fans and we even saw a marriage proposal!

Take a look at some of our photos, and head over to our Facebook page to say hi if we met you at LAGC.

Two hi-definition screens will be set up for video game play sessions plus two tournaments for prizes on the Xbox360 and new Wii U consoles.

Mayamada Prime Time Volume 1: Our Kickstarter Campaign

Since we started making teaser pages of manga for each of our shows, people have continued to ask as when is the full book coming out.  We didn’t have an answer for them, until now that is.

Today we launched our long awaited Kickstarter campaign to raise the funds needed to create a full mayamada manga book. We wanted to do this in a big way and really showcase our world of fantasy television in manga form and we’re so excited to get the word out to you all.

To make this happen we’ve teamed up with four great artists to produce the artwork for four of the first four shows on the mayamada network: Samurai Chef, The 11th Hour, Hot Lunch, and Serious.  The last one is a brand new show.

But why am I doing so much talking?  You can find out all the details on our Kickstarter page where you can find out how to get involved: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/401125455/mayamada-prime-time-manga-vol-1

We’ll have many more details on the progress of the campaign over the next month, including all the rewards you can get for supporting the book.

Stay tuned!

Mayamada Presents: Anime Showtime 2

mayamada March 26, 2012 No Comments

This weekend will see our second Anime Showtime event at Whirled Art Cinema where you’re invited to a free anime screening and get access to our one time pop up shop.

The date to put in your diaries is Sunday the 1st of April. We’ll be there and showing Steamboy: A steam punk anime set in 17th century Britain from Katsuhiro Ohtomo who also brought us Akira.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eAk6oNBSMU

There are still a few tickets available (at least when this post was made), so be quick if you want to book your spot.

Here’s a run down of what we’ll be up to on the day.

Prizes

We’re going to kick things off by giving everyone a chance to take part in our competition to win a special prize.

Popcorn

Judging from the talk on our Facebook page, mixing sweet and salted popcorn is popular. Well, we’ll have both kinds available for you guys before the film starts.

Steamboy

Once everyone has their popcorn we’ll kick off the main event. There’ll be a short break in between the film before we continue.

Popup shop

We’ll have a one time popup shop featuring all the mayamada t-shirts from the gift shop available for a discounted price. We’ll also have the Word Salad tee in white which you can’t get on the website.

We’ll be back next week to give you all the travel information so you know the best way to get to the screening.

Stay Tuned.

Mayamda Super Fun (and Only Slightly Damp) Picnic Time!

Nigel August 22, 2011 No Comments

There are a few things we at mayamada learned over the weekend.

  • Don’t trust British weather or weathermen.
  • Touchscreen phones don’t work too well in a downpour.
  • Good people will come through whatever the weather.

This past Saturday saw the first mayamada picnic this weekend, but it almost didn’t happen.  It started off well when we got to the park and unpacked everything in the middle of Hyde Park…and then came the rain!

After getting very wet, buying a few emergency umbrellas, a shower curtain and deck chairs for an improvised tent…we decided that we couldn’t wait out the rain and found nearby cover.

But the great thing is people still turned up, and once the rain cleared we went from this….

To this.

A really great turn out considering the early downpour.

Of course, we had mayamada cupcakes on show again…

…and things turned out well in the end – high five!

For all the planning you do beforehand for an event, it’s highly likely things will not go to, well, plan. Don’t let that fact put you off planning though. Just remember to stay flexible and positive so when things go a little off the rails you can still have a good time – and we did! A big thanks to everyone that came down to make it a super fun time 🙂

Look our for more pictures on our Facebook page.  If you were there on the day be sure to let us know what you though too.

Hot Lunch Photoshoot

Nigel July 31, 2011 1 Comment

What a day! I always look forward to doing photoshoots for new tees as each one is something different and our photoshoot last week was no exception.

You’ve seen the story behind the show and the characters featured in the design…now we can tell you about the t-shirt itself.

mayamada show: Hot Lunch

The day stared off at a nice pub called the Lemon Tree. They were kind enough to let us take over the upstairs for hair and make up.  The models Andrees and Riyonn were expertly made up…
