We’ve enjoyed talking to different artistic professionals about creativity in our new blog series. So far we’ve spoken to illustrators and musicians to get a better idea of what makes them tick creatively.
GamePad! Gaming + Music Event Recap
It’s been a long while since the last mayamada event so we couldn’t wait to get our latest event, GamePad!, up and running.
Things got off to a great start as the crowd rolled into the Petit Miracle Hub in West 12 Shopping Centre…free cupcakes might have had something to do with that!
It was a cosplay takeover as Animeleague made a big showing at GamePad! and the building was packed full of amazing characters.
There were enough cosplayers to hold our own cosplay contest, and we did just that with tickets to London Anime & Gaming Con up for grabs.
We had cosplayers from Marvel, Pokemon and Dragonball universes. After the voting was done, Tabitha (aka Demorafairy Cosplay) was crowned the winner with her Espeon cosplay.
A big part of GamePad! is the games and we had three screens running Mario Kart, House of the Dead and Super Smash Bros throughout the day.
Special guest Shaodow came, saw and conquered as he took out the competition and team mayamada to win the Super Smash Bros tournament. As well as Samurai Chef chocolate and a logo snapback cap, he also won tickets to StreetFest 2015!
It wasn’t just video games, no-tech gaming was just as fun with things getting very competitive on giant Jenga.
It was a great day and this was just the start…GamePad! will be back in June so stay tuned to find out the date of the next mayamada gaming and music event.
Convention Round Up
This week has been tiring to say the least! Both the London Anime Con and the London Film and Comic Con on consecutive weekends has left our feet in need of some serious rehabilitation.
We had a great time throughout both conventions and got some cool photos along the way. Here are just a few.
Mayamada At MCM Expo Recap
This weekend saw our first appearance at the MCM Expo in East London. For those that don’t know about it, MCM is the biggest celebration of all things gaming sci-fi anime, manga, cosplay and general geekiness in the UK.
MCM is about the same as the New York Comic Con, but the cost of travel is much cheaper for us 🙂
We took the mayamada team down for three days of non stop standing on your feet, but it was so worth the lower back damage because we had an amazing time talking to loads of friendly and passionate people as well as make new friends and fans along the way.
Here are some of the best moments from the show…
We visited MCM in May but now that we had a stall we got to skip the lines.
Even though the area was massive, it didn’t take too long to find our spot.
Once we set up our stall we were off and running!
