We’re heading down to London MCM Comic Con this weekend from Friday 25th – Sunday 27th! You can catch us in both the North and South halls where we’ll be showcasing our indie manga as well as our original clothing line (including the comeback of our popular pink samurai beanies!), prints, notebooks and much more!
We’ve got another round of our favourite cosplay from the London Comic Con, the biggest convention on the UK calendar! It’s always a treat to meet dedicated cosplayers and witness what they’ve been working on for weeks and months.
The end of May marks the start of a busy summer of events for mayamada. Six conventions plus the summer edition of GamePad means we’ll be keeping busy on our Summer Comic Con tour. Read more

Last month we took a trip up north (well, north-ish) for our first visit to the MCM Expo at the NEC Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. After a great time at London Anime & Gaming Con, we were excited to get our second convention of the year off and running.
We set up in the Comic Village and manage to cover our table with regular and limited edition of the Samurai Chef manga as well as our new Samurai Chef chocolate bars.
It’s been a while since we’ve been to an MCM event, but we were quickly up to speed once we got our bearings.
There is so much to see at MCM. We only got to see a fraction of it from our stall, but we were treated to Robot Wars matches going on just behind the Comic Village – we loved watching that show!
We also got to meet up with some great exhibitors including Canime, Helenasia and Choizilla, who had one of the best presented tables in the Comic Village and a cool outfit too.
As always it’s about the cosplay and we saw a tons of great outfits over the two days of MCM Expo.
Even the security guards were getting into it…
So that’s two events down and many more to go in 2015. Not only conventions like Hyper Japan and London Comic Con, but we’ll also have our very own mayamada events starting with GamePad! in April.

We have bad news on the dodgeball front. Unfortunately we’re having to cancel the event in November and reschedule it for spring/summer of 2013.
We’re really disappointed to do this but we felt with all the projects we have at the moment we couldn’t put on an event as good as it should be. The worst thing that could happen is for people to turn up and not enjoy it.
But it’s not all bad news and there’s still a lot to look forward for the rest of 2012.. We’re now focused on our third screening event in December and we’ll have the details on that by the end of the month.
We also have MCM Expo coming up and we’ll follow that up with our first appearance at Hyper Japan in November.
In addition to that there’s also the Samurai Chef manga book which is still in progress and scheduled to be out this year.
Once we have the updated news on the dodgeball we’ll be letting everyone know. Until then, start practising…
It’s October so naturally we’re talking about MCM Expo here at mayamada headquarters. It will be our first appearance since our first in October 2011 and we’ve got a few things in store for everyone that visits our stall during the 26th – 28th.
You’ll be able to get your hands on all our latest gear, plus a few others not available online.

Like last year, we’ll be taking Cosplay photos throughout the expo. This time around we’ll be giving evey cosplayer we photograph a 30% discount voucher for our online shop.
If you are a cosplayer make sure you drop by our stall and strike your best pose to take part.
We’re also running a competition to win a copy of the Samurai Chef manga book and an exclusive signed framed artwork featuring the Chef himself.
All you have to do is visit our stall at MCM Expo and get your picture taken while wearing the Samurai Chef hat.
After the show we’ll collect the best ones to put up on our Facebook page and the photo with the most likes by Sunday 11th November will win a copy of the book and exclusive artwork.

Samurai Chef competition terms and conditions
The competition is held by Mayamada. Participants must be 13 years or over. To enter the competition, we’ll take a photograph of you wearing the Samurai chef’s hat while strike your best pose when you visit our stall at MCM Expo. All photographs taken of participants will be loaded up onto our Facebook page, Instagram and website. The winner of the competition is the person that has the most likes on their photo by the end of Sunday 11th November (11:59pm). In the event of a tie, Mayamada has the discretion to name the winner. The winner will receive a opy of the Samurai Chef manga book plus a signed a frame artwork piece by the 31st Janurary 2013 by post. Mayamada would like to feature all participants in marketing and social media publicity after the event. Any copyright arising in photography and videos taken by Mayamada vest in Mayamada.We had fun at this year’s MCM Expo taking a ton of photos and meeting new friends. It was the perfect weather for it too.

During our first visit to MCM as dealers, we got the chance to meet up with the friendly guys over at the Geek Show. They do a live radio show every Monday 6-8pm which can be streamed live on thegeekshow.co.uk or on real life radio (104. 5 fm) if you’re in the Teesside area – that’s north England for our international viewers 🙂

This weekend saw our first appearance at the MCM Expo in East London. For those that don’t know about it, MCM is the biggest celebration of all things gaming sci-fi anime, manga, cosplay and general geekiness in the UK.
MCM is about the same as the New York Comic Con, but the cost of travel is much cheaper for us 🙂
We took the mayamada team down for three days of non stop standing on your feet, but it was so worth the lower back damage because we had an amazing time talking to loads of friendly and passionate people as well as make new friends and fans along the way.

We visited MCM in May but now that we had a stall we got to skip the lines.
Even though the area was massive, it didn’t take too long to find our spot.
Once we set up our stall we were off and running!
