Stories only matter if the right people feel them. That’s why we make manga — to communicate across language, background, and assumed knowledge. Visual storytelling breaks barriers that a standard brochure can’t.
You’ve got ideas, and probably more than you know what to do with. We’ve seen it: lots of creativity sitting in a sketchbook or Word Doc, waiting for the right hands to help it breathe. Bring the concept, even a rough one, and we’ll shape it into a story that’s yours, from first page to final output.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
▼ What is manga, and is it different from comics?
Manga is effectively the same as comics — sequential illustrated storytelling told panel by panel. The term comes from Japan, but the format is universal. At mayamada, we do both manga and comics in our own house style, which you can see across the titles on this website.
▼ How much does a manga commission cost?
It depends on the scope, output, and timeline. We work across a range of formats — from full manga volumes and short comics to illustrated infographics and custom artwork — so there’s something to fit most budgets. Get in touch with a brief outline of what you have in mind and we’ll put together a tailored proposal.
▼ What kinds of organisations do you work with on manga commissions?
We work with educational institutions, non-profits, youth organisations, and corporate clients who want to communicate in new ways through visual storytelling. If your project has a story at its heart, we want to hear about it.
▼ Do the characters have to be anthropomorphic?
Our creative universe is built around anthropomorphic characters — animals in human settings — which is our signature approach and what we do best. If you’d prefer a different direction, get in touch and we can guide you to the right option.
▼ How is a manga commission different from general graphic design or illustration?
Manga is sequential visual storytelling — it’s structured narrative, not just images. We bring story consultancy, character development, and illustration expertise together. We don’t offer ad hoc design or branding work outside that storytelling context.
▼ What’s the process for getting started on a commission?
Get in touch through our enquiry form with a brief outline of your idea — even rough notes work. We’ll set up a scoping conversation, understand your goals, and put together a tailored proposal. Timing depends on scope, so the sooner you reach out, the better.
